Birthday Party!

Yesterday was my birthday. Well, I'm told it isn't my real birthday, but the day I came to into Abbie's life. Abbie is my child, although lately she had been having to pull her knees up higher to ride me bareback.  Even though she has been riding taller horses, we occasionally still have fun together, and she always remembers carrots for me.

Yesterday was pretty uneventful.  My roommate once again tried to tell me about how he was learning about loud noises, smoke and how fun it was. I think there may something wrong with his horse sense.

I had a little girl ride me on my birthday. I thought it was fun to steer around ground poles, and made a game of it with her. It was pretty awesome until she started steering me.
Had a bath, some cookies afterwards, lots of hay, a little dinner and went to bed.  Pretty much a good day, just like every other.
I love my adventures, and hope everyday brings a new one for me.

Seems Like a Monday

Today was a somber day at the farm.

My roommate Cooper and I haven't been at the farm long, and we haven't met every horse here, but those we have met have been very nice (even that guy in the lower barn with the funny accent & big ears).

There was a horse at the farm that crossed over the Rainbow Bridge today.  From what Cooper & I can get from the other horses, Tommy was a well respected and elder member of the herd.  He had spent many years going to shows and teaching people to ride.  We heard great stories of Tommy and a lead mare called Grandma.  It sounded as though they were rivals on the farm, they were true herd mates at the shows.  People don't always understand herd mentality. We horses take care of each other in our herd, especially when the stakes are high.  As a lead mare, Grandma will always protect and lead Tommy, even over the Rainbow Bridge.  Many of the horses here had will miss Tommy, and I'm sure many of the people will too.

Many of the kids who loved and rode Tommy will be coming into my care this summer.  It seems like such a big undertaking for one so new here.  I'm glad I have a big heart.

I don't think I'm short

Day 4 of my summer adventure.

While I was out being worked today, I was called short. Now, being around horses most of my life, I do not consider myself short.
Yes, I'm a little smaller than some of the other horses.  But, I do not think of myself as short. I am a stout, proud individual. A few silly words can't change my attitude.
Also..... I was promised bath & a cookie, so that makes me happy
Stand tall! You are what you think you are.

Going to work?!

So, today I found out I do in fact have to work.

Sigh.
It wasn't so bad, I got groomed, showered off & had a cookie.

New Girlfriend

Well, this new place hasn't turned out to be so bad. So far, I've just been eating, and going outside. The pastures here are pretty big, and I'm fairly happy with the arrangement.  Monday I met a lovely spotted girl named Sienna, and she claims to be my new girlfriend.

I guess as long as we're going to be hanging out, I'm ok with it. I just hope she doesn't get too needy...You know how the ladies can be.

I hope this is how my summer will be. It's been
pretty relaxing so far.

Billy Bob's First Day

Saturday evening, I was escorted to a horse show. I had been clipped & prepped, but I wasn't muscled up nor ready to show! I'll admit, I was pretty nervous. My girlfriend was unloaded off the trailer, and wasn't stalled next to me. I couldn't see her, and I was very confused as to what was going on.  There was a big pile of hay though... And I learned one should always put gift hay in the mouth.

The next morning I was paraded onto a new trailer & taken to yet another horse show. Once I got there, I was placed in a stall next to a nice guy with a spotted nose. He was telling me about how he was here to learn stuff and was so excited... Blah, blah. Boring.  There was more hay here, so once I figured out this was not a horse show, I settled in and began to eat.

I've decided I must be a celebrity here, as all day people were coming in, petting my neck and snapping pictures of me. So far, as I settle in to my summer digs, everything seems alright.
