Seems Like a Monday

Today was a somber day at the farm.

My roommate Cooper and I haven't been at the farm long, and we haven't met every horse here, but those we have met have been very nice (even that guy in the lower barn with the funny accent & big ears).

There was a horse at the farm that crossed over the Rainbow Bridge today.  From what Cooper & I can get from the other horses, Tommy was a well respected and elder member of the herd.  He had spent many years going to shows and teaching people to ride.  We heard great stories of Tommy and a lead mare called Grandma.  It sounded as though they were rivals on the farm, they were true herd mates at the shows.  People don't always understand herd mentality. We horses take care of each other in our herd, especially when the stakes are high.  As a lead mare, Grandma will always protect and lead Tommy, even over the Rainbow Bridge.  Many of the horses here had will miss Tommy, and I'm sure many of the people will too.

Many of the kids who loved and rode Tommy will be coming into my care this summer.  It seems like such a big undertaking for one so new here.  I'm glad I have a big heart.

  1. BB so sorry that you have suffered a loss. Tommy sounded like a good chap. I know he must have been loved by many, many humans and his herd mates. May he run free and strong with Grandma over the Rainbow Bridge.

  2. A wonderful picture of Tommy and Lisa. You wrote a beautiful tribute to some great horses that were at the farm. You will do great in your new role BillyBob.
